First fun fact, I don’t love ice breakers! Especially ones that require sharing of fun facts! ; )
JK… I don’t really have that strong of feelings about ice breakers, but did think this “10 Fun Facts About Me and How I Got Here” could be a fun re-intro and sharing post.
So, here goes:
I was a competitive swimmer growing up. From age 7 through college, I swam. In later high school years and into college, I got into, and relatively good at, distance swimming. I qualified for Nationals in college in the mile! I’m convinced that it was this expertise that allowed me to thrive at pacing CrossFit workouts years later!
I have two sisters. One of which lives directly next door, and the other has given me a niece and a nephew, who I also loveeee.
I’m originally from Connecticut. Shelton, Connecticut to be specific… home of the Wiffle Ball!
My birthday is on Christmas. In my adult years, I love it… it’s awesome to spend my birthday with lots of family and enjoy time together. Growing up I thought I was somehow getting gipped or something… not true, my people worked hard to make me feel special!
If I was stranded on a deserted island, the one food I would want to have is Greek Yogurt… Super weird choice, I know, but it just feels like a thorough and balanced option. I hope I have a refrigerator or my island…
For as long as I can remember I wanted to be a teacher. Like, I made my sisters and friends play school during the summer when we were younger. I was that kid! I went to school to become a teacher… I have a degree in English and also American History. I then taught 7th and 8th grade English for 5 years, before transitioning to my role as CrossFit Coach and gym manager. It was there that I started to gain a passion and curiosity around nutrition and dove into nutrition coaching full time at the start of the pandemic!
I’m very excited to be a mom!
I love watching TV and sleeping! I feel like watching a lot of TV is something that’s judged pretty harshly… like don’t I have a better way to spend my time? Probably, but, whatever, I really enjoy it and I get my responsibilities done otherwise! And, I also read A LOT. So there!
Speaking of reading, up there on my favorite/super enjoyable books list: all of the Harry Potters, The Book Thief, Cutting For Stone, I’ve been really in Colleen Hoover lately, I’ll Give You The Sun, The Kite Runner, Daisy Jones and the Six, All The Light We Cannot See, To Kill a Mockingbird, and The Nightingale. I prefer fiction, and also really enjoy listening to audiobooks so do a fair share of that too!
My biggest pet peeve is listening to mouth noises… like people chewing with their mouths open, clicking teeth, or things like that. Ugh, I can just feel my heart rate rise when I think about it!
Okay, those are the things that came to mind off the top of my head!
