I’ll officially be 31 weeks pregnant on Thursday!

31 weeks feels like a long time!

Wanna know what’s NOT a long time?! The remaining 9 weeks!

I feel like there’s a lot to do between now and when she comes, and, at the same time, trying to be reasonable with expectations and preparing.

Anyway… what’s been going on lately?! Here goes:

  • I’m starting to feel way more pregnant! Like belly-wise! It’s not huge, but it’s definitely starting to limit some movements and comfort. Clothes aren’t fitting, and the things that do still feel comfortable to wear are getting more and more limited!

  • They weren’t lying about how that tiredness comes back around in the 3rd trimester! I definitely felt tired in the 1st trimester, as expected, but now it’s like a physical tiredness and overall exhaustion that’s different! Yesterday literally felt like pulling teeth to get anything done. It doesn’t help that sleep is touch and go lots of nights!

  • Speaking of sleep… sometimes it’s great. Like, last night, I slept from 9:15-7am… even though I had to get up three times to pee, I fell back asleep quickly. And boy did I need sleep last night, I was SO tired from the weekend! But, some nights I get up to pee and CANNOT fall back asleep and just lay there for 1-3 hours, which isn’t fun. Like just laying there wishing for sleep to take me and it won’t!

  • This past weekend we had a lovely baby shower! It was great seeing friends and family, many of whom travelled from far away to be there, for which I’m so thankful! Baby Girl is already so loved! Here are some pictures from the day:

My sisters!
Friends from wayyyyy back!
Fitness Friends!
Bestie who is 6 weeks behind me! Baby Besties incoming!!
Everyone colored ABC book pages for baby!
  • Baby Girl is moving all over the place! And is active for LOTS of the day and night! While it’s great that she’s active, I hope she also sleeps sometimes when she arrives ; ) I love watching my belly and seeing her kick or elbow me!

  • However, sometimes when she’s moving all over the place, or when I’m walking/active, my belly gets so TIGHT and uncomfortable! I imagine it’s a combination of the impact of activity and Braxton Hicks, which are also crazy to experience!

  • I have a general sense of nervousness about going into labor early… I'm not sure why… nothing has indicated that that’s likely at all, but just nervous. My pregnancy app also said something about packing hospital bags already, which I definitely haven’t done! I’m sure that’s adding some anxiety…

  • Nesting is real, ya’ll! Lately, and especially after getting such beautiful gifts from the shower, I’ve had a real urge to nest and get things ready for baby! Baby Daddy is actually building a bookcase for her right now! I imagine this weekend will be lots of baby clothes laundry and prepping, just because I want to!

  • I also admit that I’m stressed about what things will look like for my business moving forward. For anyone I’m working with, DO NOT WORRY! I have no plans to leave you hanging, and also have an intern starting work with me this week to support me during baby time, so it’ll be all good! In addition to this, I’m also working on shifting things a bit to work more on my eBook, and other DIY courses, so that people can still access information they need moving forward. I’m super excited about being able to offer more support for people who are interested and want indirect coaching support in their nutrition. Stay tuned for that!

  • I don’t know if this is something that anyone cares about, but I’ve gained ~18 pounds so far since the day I found out I was pregnant.

  • Last thing! I’m still fitnessing as best as I can… I’m definitely slower, get tired easier, and am using lighter weights and modifying more, but, overall, I’m feeling good about still moving! I know this period of life is temporary and there’s no need to push to do too much right now! I’m getting movement in at least 5x per week, with walks and all, so I’m gonna ride that train for as long as I can!

    • Addendum to the above: Years ago, I remember seeing a video of a woman doing one muscle up per week for each week of her pregnancy, with the goal of being able to do one each of the 40 weeks. I recall thinking that was so cool and wanting to do something along those lines. Now I realize just how unnecessary, and potentially dangerous, something like that is! Pregnancy is NOT a time to be pushing fitness boundaries! Not to mention kipping/using muscle groups that are incredibly strained while you’re pregnant and can cause abdominal/urinary problems for you down the line if stressed to much, or the fact that you’re carrying extra weight that shoulders can’t support, etc. I sure am glad that I’ve come to this realization and follow the guidelines of level-headed individuals (somewhere reasonably between the people who say not to work out at all when you’re pregnant and 40 weeks of MUs!).

Overall, I feel like I’m in a really good place in my pregnancy, am very thankful to be feeling mostly good, am excited for the little bebe to get here in 9 weeks, and will continue to keep you posted on my journey!

As always, thank you for reading,
xoxo,
Sara
