Hi friends!
As I’ve hinted at in previous posts and emails, I’ve got an eBook coming out soon which I’m super excited about! I’ve worked really hard on it and, admittedly, it’s taken me longer than I thought it would to get it all put together, edited, and formatted all pretty (which is still in action, with the help of my intern Brianna!). BUT, it’s finally coming together and I’m hoping to release it at the end of this month! Stay tuned!
I wanted to take today’s post to chat a little more about why I wanted to put it together, share some excerpts of it, and why I imagine it would be beneficial for people to read!
Why Write This eBook?
Here’s the thing… I used to overcomplicate nutrition A LOT. I used to believe that everything had to be perfect for it to be effective.
There was a stretch of time post-college while I was using My Fitness Pal and eating the 1200 calories it recommended to me. I was starving, only ever thought about food, and counted down the minutes until I could eat my snack of 12 almonds (literally!). I wasn’t sleeping much and was getting up at 4:45 to get a workout in… not a great combination.
There was also a stretch of time where I was eating every single thing in sight/that I wanted, and was gaining weight, not working out, and was miserable.
I also can look back at my high school and college days and WISH I had any guidance on nutrition to support my competitive swimming career. How things could have been different if I actually ate enough protein and was not sustaining my workouts on Pop Tarts alone…
There were also times, like I imagine so many of us experience, when I would eat “so well” all day/week only to eat everything in sight at night or on the weekends. And I’d be so mad at myself for doing so, and wonder why I had no willpower (whatever that is anyway!). I’d later come to realize that eating “so well” was actually severely underrating, which was leading to the overeating that was happening after.
I used to lay on the couch and cry at night because I hated what I looked like and how I felt, and I thought I was doing all the right things and they weren’t working!
These kinds of stories could go on.
Luckily, however, these are no longer my real life experiences. That’s because I’ve since learned better. I now know how to fuel my body appropriately so that I’m getting enough of what I need to sustain my lifestyle and fitness, without restricting any foods I love. I no longer binge eat, but instead include all foods in moderation if I want them. I now know how much of what types of foods I need—and where to get them and what they look like—to support my goals.
And I WISH I knew all of this way sooner. Because, the truth is, all of this DOES NOT have to be complicated. It DOES NOT have to be perfect to be effective. You CAN reach your goals. You DON’T need to cook fancy recipes for dinner every night to reach your goal weight (though the book does include over 50 delicious and simple recipes!). You DON’T have to do keto, or go paleo, or carnivore, or low-carb, or do Weight Watchers to reach your goals.
You DO, however, have to better understand food, in general. You DO have to understand how to figure out what YOU need for YOUR body and YOUR goals. And that’s what this eBook is all about, and what I want to help you with. It’s the kind of thing I do through my coaching and my courses, and now I’m offering it in a different format—a fresh new eBook.
What Can You Expect From the eBook?
Before we dive in to what you can expect from the eBook, maybe you can help me pick a cover??
Here’s Option 1:
Here’s Option 2:
I’m jokinggg, hahaha…. If you’ve seen Zoolander, you likely get the joke of cover 2… this is what I was going for:
And if you haven’t seen Zoolander, put that on your to-do list ASAP.
Who knows… maybe I’ll end up using cover 2 after all and do some kind of test to see which does better… a serious, straightforward option, or a satirical, funnier option. *Shrug* Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
Anyway, for real now, here are the kinds of things you can actually expect in the eBook!
Pages like this that include smaller tidbits of useful information:
Longer article-type pieces (this is only the first page of this one) that discuss health and nutrition philosophies more in depth:
Real-life applications that you can use to help yourself be successful in your nutrition and fitness endeavors:
Various examples that you can use as inspiration, and subsequent fill-in sections that you can use to do your own thinking/planning:
And, of course, recipes! Specifically, more than 50 recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack options that can be made relatively quickly, are healthy and hearty, and are balanced across macronutrients. Like this one, for example:
The cool thing about the eBook, too, is that you don’t necessarily have to read it straight through, cover to cover. Though you totally can do so, you can also jump around to the recipes that most interest you, or the “articles” that directly connect to your needs and goals.
Why I think You Should Read It
Because I wrote it for you, of course! ; )
But seriously, I imagine this content would be beneficial for anyone who is looking to move away from dieting, or the ideas of restrictive food plans.
We can all be done saying things like, “Oh I can’t eat that”—unless you have an allergy, of course!
You won’t have to judge your food choices as “good” or “bad” anymore.
You won’t have to question whether the foods you’re eating are appropriate for you, or if you’re eating too much or too little.
Because this book will teach you HOW and WHY you should move away from those judgmental mindsets and approaches.
Instead, you’ll gain a better understanding of your personal food needs and how to make that a reality in a way that fits your life. You’ll also understand realistic timelines of progress around body composition changes. You’ll be able to look more closely at your goals and make sure you actually care about them and that they’re appropriate for you. And, of course, you’ll have suggestions for healthy and hearty food choices, and bunches of delicious recipes!, all at your fingertips!
And, while I’m confident that you’ll find the eBook helpful, it would also mean a lot to me to have your support in buying the book too!
Great! Glad I got all of those thoughts and shares down for you all! If you’re interested in learning more about when the eBook is released and getting your copy, make sure you join my email list! Click here to do so if you’re not on it already!
